Meet the Mentors

If you’ve applied for our RSG Social Value Exam Mentoring Scheme you’ll probably want to know a little bit more about the Mentors we will be assigning to you for the one-to-one study sessions.

Our Red Snapper Group mentors are former police staff, who have reached at least the level of Inspector within their respective forces and all of whom have prior experience in delivering coaching and mentoring programmes. In addition, our mentors are from a multitude of backgrounds, in terms of ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation; meaning they have an in-depth understanding in regards to some of the challenges officers from underrepresented backgrounds might face.

Meet Our Mentors:

Ricky Fields (Sgts. & NIE)

A retired Superintendent from Staffordshire Police with experience leading major crime investigations and command experience in public order, firearms incidents and major events.

Ricky has 23 years of experience of mentoring & coaching within the Police force as well as from other agencies such as British Transport Police, National Crime Agency and University students.

Ricky received a National Black Police Association President’s Award in 2019 for his contribution in supporting and the development of BAME staff.

Jess Ruddell (Sgts. & NIE)

A recently retired Detective Superintendent having served 30yrs with the Metropolitan Police.

During her service Jess has served with the United Nations and was deployed to Bosnia to support and mentor the local Investigation Branch.

Domestically, Jess has mentored, supported and guided numerous officers to reach their full potential alongside serving in uniform and detective roles throughout her service.

Sutinderjit (Johnny) Mahil (Sgts.)

Sutinderjit (who also goes by Johnny) is a retired Response Team Inspector having served 31.5 yrs in the Metropolitan Police Service.

He has served on Borough in various roles, including 13yrs on the Territorial Support Group in the roles of Constable, Sergeant and Inspector.

Sutinderjit has previously supported officers studying for Promotion to Sergeant and Inspector ranks, with study plans and methods of study to achieve success in promotion, alongside this he has coached officers preparing for Promotion assessment centres.

Jill Stapley-Harding (Sgts.)

A versatile retired Police Inspector with 30 years of wide ranging experience in the Metropolitan Police Service.

Jill is an experienced Officer Safety Training (OST) Instructor and recently returned from a training contract in Middle East. She has worked in a variety of training roles as well as Diplomatic Protection, Career Development and Professional Standards.

Jill has worked as a trainer on the MPS Female Leadership and Development Programme, to female officers seeking promotion to Inspector.

We hope that these intro profiles help bring our Mentors to life, and that prospective delegates are looking forward to working with them.

If you have a particular preference towards one or more of our mentors, you may inform our Mentoring Support Officer Chris King (chris.king@rsg.ltd) and your preference will be taken into consideration. Please, however, understand that we may not be able to accommodate all preferences due to the number of delegates within the scheme.

How can I apply to be included in the scheme?

To register your interest in taking part, please visit: https://www.rsr.ltd/flms-scheme/

The application process requires a statement setting out your case to be included on the scheme.

A panel of judges, from a mix of backgrounds, will select the best fifty applications based on these statements. The scheme is subject to strict governance and safeguarding policies and procedures. It is also fully GDPR compliant.

For any further enquiries about the scheme you can drop an email to us at info@rsg.ltd.
